How do we do it

Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure that uses a laser to remove unwanted hair. It works by targeting the pigment (melanin) in the hair and destroying the hair follicle, which prevents the hair from growing back.

Here’s the basic process for laser hair removal:

  1. Consultation: Before the procedure, you’ll have a consultation with a dermatologist or a qualified laser technician. During the consultation, they will assess your skin type and hair color to determine the best laser for your needs. They will also explain the risks and benefits of the procedure and answer any questions you may have.
  2. Preparation: Before the procedure, you’ll need to avoid exposing your skin to the sun for several weeks. You’ll also need to avoid waxing, plucking, or bleaching your hair. These methods can interfere with the laser’s ability to target the hair follicle.
  3. Treatment: During the procedure, you’ll wear protective eyewear and the technician will apply a cooling gel or cream to your skin. They will then use a handheld laser device to direct the laser at the targeted areas of your skin. The laser’s energy will be absorbed by the pigment in your hair, causing the hair follicle to be destroyed. The treatment may be uncomfortable, but it is generally well tolerated.
  4. Recovery: After the procedure, you may experience some redness and swelling in the treated area. These side effects usually resolve within a few hours or days. You should avoid exposing your skin to the sun and use sunscreen to protect your skin from further damage.

How many treatment sessions are necessary

The number of treatment sessions necessary for laser hair removal varies depending on the individual and the area being treated. Here are some general guidelines:

  • Small areas (such as the upper lip or chin) may require only a few treatments.
  • Larger areas (such as the back or legs) may require 6-8 treatments or more.
  • The number of treatments also depends on the thickness and color of the hair being treated. Coarser, darker hair may require more treatments than finer, lighter hair.

Most people need a series of treatments spaced 4-8 weeks apart to achieve the desired results. The exact number of treatments needed can be determined during a consultation with a dermatologist or a qualified laser technician.
