PDO Threads

AMIS Enhancing Natural Beauty

General Descriptions

PDO (polydioxanone) threads when used as a cosmetic treatment, there are a few things you should know: mechanically it results in an instantaneous lifting of the skin, shrinks fat tissue so the skin tightens instantly, promotes collagen production and neovascularization to renew the skin at the cellular level.

All of this works together to give you improved skin texture, fewer fine lines and wrinkles, and more elastic skin.

How do we do it

Before the treatment begins, we will apply a topical anesthetic agent and local anesthetic to the treatment site. The needle used during this treatment is so fine that it will not cause any pain. However, we provide anesthesia to ensure that you do not feel any discomfort during the treatment. Once the anesthesia has taken effect, your treatment will begin. The PDO threads are inserted through blunt-tipped needles, called cannulas or sharp-tipped needles. Once inserted into the appropriate layer of skin, they act as anchors as the skin is lifted upward. The excess threads are then cut away.

A PDO thread lift is customized to your unique skin type, skin texture and aesthetic goals. Depending on the area you wish to treat, you may receive three or four carefully placed barbed threads. Different threads are used for varying degrees of lifting, skin tightening and cellular rejuvenation.

How many treatment sessions are necessary

Most of our patients enjoy satisfactory results after just one treatment. After six to nine months of their first treatment, the patient returns so we can determine if they need a follow-up treatment.

After that, you should not need another treatment for up to 3 years.

Recovery and Results

PDO threads can be used virtually anywhere on the face without risk and with excellent results.

Duration depends on several factors, including the thickness of the threads, the quality of the threads and your body’s metabolic rate. However, most of our clients find that the threads have dissolved within six to nine months.

Some treatment results, such as skin tightening and some of the contouring effects, are visible immediately after treatment. In fact, your skin may look tighter when you finish treatment than it does a week later.

The final results of your PDO thread lift will be seen within one to two months. How long it takes you personally depends a lot on your age. Your age is one of the main factors in how quickly your body produces new, healthy collagen. Collagen is the protein responsible for plumping cheeks, filling in fine lines and smoothing wrinkles.
